COMPARE & CONTRAST

Observation is a valuable skill and can be improved through comparison and contrast.

Each of the images in pairs below has certain characteristics that cause the viewer to read the energetic, the peaceful, the serious or playful feeling. When we learn to utilize the art elements and design principles to describe the components and structure of a work of art, we find ways to deconstruct the actions of the artist and find deeper meaning in the content. We also increase our vocabulary and make new connections in our minds as we describe what we see.
