printmaking

multiples change the game…

Making prints allows an artist to create more than one original work of art.

  • There is a matrix or plate onto which an image is carved, etched, drawn or exposed.

  • The matrix is inked with a roller, brayer, or card.

  • Pressure is then applied to the matrix against a piece of paper which transfers the ink and the image to the paper.

There are four (4) categories of printmaking: RELIEF, INTAGLIO, LITHOGRAPHY and SERIGRAPHY
